In Feng Shui, the bedroom is key – it’s the most important room because, let’s face it, we spend a huge chunk of our lives there! As the kids shift from summer fun to back-to-school mode, it’s essential to support them during this season of change, growth, and fresh starts. Whether they’re diving into new lessons, picking up cool skills, or making new friends, their environment plays a big role. That’s why creating a strong, positive, and nurturing space is so important.

Today, I’ll be sharing some essential Feng Shui tips for the bedroom to help you craft an empowering atmosphere that sets your kids up for success and well-being!

Bed Position

The bedroom is not only the place where the little ones spend a bulk of their time but it is also the space where they rest and recharge their energy. For that reason the bed is the piece of furniture which should be treated like a queen! A well-positioned bed can create a harmonious space that promotes relaxation and security.

Commanding Position

Some of you might be familiar with the Feng Shui term ‘Commanding Position.’ While it’s often used in reference to bed placement, it can also apply to other areas. I’ll guide you through what it means to place the bed in this powerful position and how to create the ideal setup.”

  • Distance from the Door: Place the bed as far away as possible from the entrance door. This enhances a sense of safety and control.

  • Solid Wall Behind the Headboard: Position the headboard against a solid wall rather than under a window. This provides strong, supportive energy and a sense of stability.

  • Avoid Direct Alignment with the Entrance Door: Try to avoid placing the bed directly in line with the bedroom door. Why? Because the energy entering the room will move right up to the bed in a very powerful way which can be pretty intense and disrupting the sleep Also, if the bedroom has an en suite bathroom make sure the bathroom door stays closed during the night.

  • View of the Door: Ensure that your child can see the door while lying in bed. This symbolizes readiness and the ability to face whatever comes their way in life.

Sometimes, the room’s layout may not allow for the perfect bed placement. If that’s the case, don’t worry! Experiment with different configurations until you find the one that feels most soothing and comforting for your child. I personally faced challenges with my daughter’s bedroom, and after testing various options, I finally discovered the most favorable position for her.

Sharp Angles

Sharp angles also called “poison arrows” in Feng Shui can be like little ninjas, silently disrupting the peace in your kid’s room! Check to make sure there are no sharp corners from furniture, pointy artwork or toys aimed at your little ones while they sleep. If there are, try rearranging the room by either removing the pointy items or place them so they won’t face towards the bed. Sharp angles create negative energy and can subtly attack the calm.

Clutter

Toys, toys, and more toys! We know kids’ rooms can quickly turn into clutter zones, but keeping things organized is essential for good Feng Shui. At night, store toys out of sight to promote better sleep and a peaceful morning. Make sure to only keep items they actually use and love – this keeps the room from getting too crowded. And try to avoid storing anything under the bed so energy can flow freely. What’s worked wonders for me is giving everything a dedicated spot – books, toys, games – you name it. It not only keeps the room tidy but also makes cleanup time a breeze for the kids as they know where things go! At least most of the time!

Electronic Devices

Say goodbye to screens in the bedroom (in every bedroom) ! Keeping electronics like phones, iPads, TVs, and even electronic alarm clocks out of the room is crucial for restful sleep. This will minimize exposure to EMFs (electromagnetic fields), ensuring your child gets the best sleep possible. As for the alarm clock, go with a battery-operated alarm clock – there are so many fun ones out there.
