Last month we discussed the best placement for your bed. Today, I am going to share more Feng Shui tips on how to create a beneficial atmosphere in your bedroom!
Furniture, Artwork & Creating a Calming Space
When designing a restful bedroom, every detail matters—from the furniture to the décor. A bed crafted from natural wood with a solid headboard makes an excellent foundation, adding warmth and stability to the space. Ideally, select beds, mattresses, and bedding made from non-toxic materials, as these can support both physical health and peace of mind. For balance, place a nightstand on each side of the bed; this symmetry helps maintain harmony within the room.
When it comes to mirrors, placement is essential. Avoid positioning mirrors where they directly reflect you while you sleep; this can disrupt rest and create a feeling of unease. Similarly, take time to carefully choose the artwork and decorations that you surround yourself with. Opt for pieces that evoke calm, romantic, positive energy, avoiding anything that feels chaotic or overstimulating. Family photos are best kept out of the bedroom—though images of you and your partner are fine, as they can foster a sense of connection.
Be mindful of sharp angles in artwork or furniture, as these can unintentionally create a defensive feeling, as if you’re “under attack.” Instead, prioritize rounded edges and softer designs that encourage relaxation and safety while you sleep.
Declutter for Serenity
A clutter-free and well-organized bedroom is essential for good energy flow. This principle applies to every corner, from the surfaces on your nightstands to the space beneath your bed. An open area under the bed allows energy to move freely, creating a sense of lightness and spaciousness. Also, keep your closet and drawers tidy to prevent a buildup of stagnant energy.
Embrace Tech-Free Zones
To truly unwind, consider creating a tech-free sanctuary in your bedroom. Ideally, TVs, laptops, and phones should be left outside, preserving this space solely for rest and rejuvenation. A battery-operated alarm clock can replace your phone to help maintain the room’s serenity. By reducing tech clutter, you’ll enjoy better sleep quality and a more peaceful ambiance.
Welcome Light and Air
Each day, invite in natural light and fresh air. Open your blinds and, if possible, your windows to let sunlight and airflow revive the room’s energy. Fresh air not only purifies but also promotes an uplifting environment, setting the perfect tone for restful sleep and a balanced, serene living space.
Be mindful of what you have in your space. It’s important to be surrounded with things which make you feel good and you love!
