I often get asked, “Where do I even start with Feng Shui?”

And I get it, Feng Shui can feel a little overwhelming at first. It’s layered, it’s deep, and there’s so much you can learn. But if we strip it all back and keep things simple, I always come back to the same three starting points.

If your home has been feeling a little off, these are the first things I’d look at. Because the truth is, even small changes can have a powerful impact on how you feel in your space.

So, let’s break it down, nice and easy.

1. Start with Decluttering your Home

This is always step one. Always.

In Feng Shui, energy needs space to flow. When your home is filled with clutter, whether it’s piles of things, overstuffed closets, or even that “junk drawer”, that energy gets stuck.

And when energy gets stuck, we get stuck.

I know decluttering isn’t always easy (and definitely not fun), but it’s a powerful shift you can make. Start small if you need to. One drawer, one closet, one corner at a time. Let go of;

  • What you no longer need
  • What no longer works
  • What no longer feels good

Keep what supports you and what you love. You might be surprised how much lighter, calmer, and clearer your space and your mind feel afterward.

2. Create a Calm and Restful Bedroom

Your bedroom is your sanctuary. It’s where you rest, recharge, and reset. In Feng Shui, it’s deeply connected to your health and your energy.

So, the question is… how does your bedroom actually feel?

If it doesn’t feel calm, cozy and supportive, start making changes.

A few simple ways to improve your bedroom energy:

  • Place your bed in the commanding position  (where you can see the door, but you’re not directly in line with it)
  • Use blackout curtains or blinds to support deeper rest
  • Keep clutter out of the bedroom – especially under the bed
  • Be mindful of electronics (ideally no TV, no phones – get a battery alarm clock)
  • Look at your décor, do you truly love what surrounds you?

You don’t need a full makeover. Just a few intentional shifts can completely change how your bedroom feels.

And when your bedroom feels good… you feel it too.

3. Make Your Home a Reflection of Your Intentions

This is where Feng Shui becomes really personal and honestly, really fun.

Your home should reflect the life you want to create.

Everything around you, your artwork, your colors, your objects, carries energy. So it’s worth asking yourself:

  • Does this inspire me?
  • Does this feel positive and uplifting?
  • Does this support how I want to feel in this space?
  • Does this piece still align with who I am today?

Sometimes it’s not about buying anything new. It’s simply about moving things around.

That piece in your bedroom might feel better in your living room. Something tucked away might deserve to be seen again.

Take a little time to walk through your home with fresh eyes. Notice what feels good and what doesn’t.

When your space reflects your intentions, it becomes a powerful support system for your life.

A Simple Start Can Go a Long Way

Feng Shui is deep, and there’s always more to explore. But a good start is to focus on these 3 simple steps first:

  • Declutter your space
  • Create a restful bedroom
  • Surround yourself with things you truly love

Pay attention to how these small changes affect your mood, your energy, and your overall well-being. You might be surprised by the shifts.

At its core, Feng Shui is about creating balance, harmony, and a home that truly supports you.
