My latest Feng Shui project, Casas Teresa Mar, nestled in the lush jungle of the tranquil beach town of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica. A perfect destination for surfers and anyone craving simplicity, Casas Teresa Mar features minimalist design and is now available for rent.

Arranging this space according to the Feng Shui principles was an exciting journey, with each detail thoughtfully designed for future guests to enjoy this special place.

If you’ve been following my work, you know that Feng Shui comes in many layers. It’s about creating harmony through the balance of energies, colors, shapes, décor, personal connection, furniture placement, etc. Today, I want to focus on the personal connection and the shapes of the five Feng Shui elements – water, wood, fire, earth, and metal.

The Feng Shui Shapes

Feng Shui is the art of balance, implementing the different shapes of the elements is a great way of balancing an outdoor space. Let’s explore how we enhanced the shapes throughout this outdoor sanctuary, and how you can do the same in any environment:

Feng Shui For Everyone

Water Element

Represented by flowing, wavy shapes, the water element is beautifully embodied in the uneven pattern of the coffee table, capturing the fluidity and energy of the ocean.

Wood Element

Wood is connected to vertical and rectangular forms. Visible in the structure of the sofa, the door, and the two built-in wall shelves. Growth and vitality are properties of the element wood.

Fire Element

Fire’s dynamic energy is symbolized by triangles and sharp points. Here, it comes to life through the triangle-shaped hanging flower pot and the golden wall art above the sofa, igniting warmth and inspiration.

Earth Element

Earth’s stability is characterized by square shapes. Reflected here in the pillows, the three built-in wall shelves, and parts of the blue chair. The element earth is known for grounding, and bringing a sense of security and calm to any given space.

Metal Element

Metal holds the message of focus, strength and clarity. The shapes associated with metal are circles and ovals, reflected in the lounge chair’s design, combining both shapes to create a sense of completeness.

As you can see, it’s simple to amplify your space using the shapes of the Feng Shui elements; through furniture, decor, or wall art – to create a balanced flow of energy.

Personal Touch

One of the most beautiful aspects of this space is the personal touch infused into the surroundings here. The furniture were crafted by the owner herself, using driftwood collected during sunset beach walks with her daughter. This labor of love not only adds a deep connection to nature but also honors the principles of Feng Shui. Treasuring natural materials and giving new life to what was once left behind.

The furniture tells a story – one of time, place, and creativity. Each piece reflects the sustainable philosophy of Feng Shui, where we connect with our environment through the materials we use and the energy they carry.

Casas Teresa Mar is more than just a beautiful space; it’s an experience. Every element, from the location, to the design, to the materials, to the monkeys in the trees harmonize with nature.
