Education is a process of constant change. Open space gives way to fixed desks and closed doors. Individual prescriptions overtake tracking and mainstreaming. It should come as no surprise that Feng Shui for education has found a place in the classroom as well.

This is a method of uniting all aspects of a room or building so that it provides a supportive environment. It is an Eastern concept that has had a great success the past decade or so in the West. The most common use has been in home decorating.

There was a great interest in this idea from the business community when cubicles came to be seen as oppressive. While that interest seems to wax and wane, it has never completely disappeared. It is even considered quite common these days.

Because of this familiarity in other areas, it would seem quite logical to give it a chance at improving the educational environment as well. If the result of instituting the basic principles were seen as just great decorating that would be fine. It is the result that really counts.

A person who practices this Eastern skill is trained to view areas in quadrants. They are shown how to maximize the flow of energy through these quadrants. They are taught to avoid certain negatively perceived angles and structures. When avoidance is not possible then other means, like mirrors or fabric, are used to soften the impact of the negatives.

If a classroom was seen to have a negative entry, then a mirror might be hung to reflect the negative energy out the doorway. This is one way a negative aspect of a structure could be revised. It would be encouraging the flow of energy to circulate freely.

In the Orient, this kind of design is used in every part of life. Here in the West it more often is limited to specific situations. We might find a room to be very calming or inviting. This may very likely be that the same design rules used by a decorator were almost exactly those used by practitioner of this Eastern art form. The names are different, but perhaps not the concepts.

Also, in the East, the practice is surrounded by ritual and ceremony. Over here you might just pick up the latest book at the library or local bookstore. This is very much the way medication has been adapted to Western culture. Instead of path it is more of a list of steps to be executed.

If it results in classrooms that are more supportive of education it will probably spread quite rapidly. Who would not willingly use a tool that was shown to be of real benefit? Beneficial methods, or, best principles, are a widely accepted concept in both business and education.

So, using Feng Shui for education might be seen as a normal step. After being used in our homes and offices, the classroom would seem to be an obvious leap. It would certainly beat the sense of dread or worse yet, boredom that many classrooms currently arouse.

Some people have all the luck is something we have all heard from many people. The Chinese believe a person creates their own luck by using the basic elements of Feng Shui. They believe that people can achieve prosperity, health and happiness by using this simple philosophy.

The words Shui and Feng mean water and wind, which are both associated with a flowing movement. The Chinese believe that by keeping life’s energies flowing in harmony, all things can be achieved.

They call this vital energy Chi. Chi flows through the entire universe as well as through the bodies of human beings. Acupuncture uses this philosophy to create health and take away pain. When the needles are punctured into the various meridians of the body they are assumed to undo blockages that cause ill health. Chi also flows through our homes, workplaces, cities and our planet. When the energy becomes blocked our areas of living do not function properly, thus creating negative affects.

The principle of this philosophy is a method to balance the flow of energy through and around us. Strictly blocked energy is considered to be the cause of illness and death. Most places in China are designed and built in conjunction with the principles of this philosophy.

Dualism is a way of life. The basic beliefs in Feng Shui are called Yin and Yang. Yin is feminine, receptive, inward seeking. Yin’s element is water and is associated with the green color. Yang is masculine, active, assertive and is directed outward. Fire is its element and vibrant colors are connected with this belief.

Western people recognize the four elements of fire, air, water and earth but the eastern thought of Feng Shui acknowledges five elements. These five are fire, water, earth, wood and metal. These forces that spread through the universe are linked to colors, the directions of the compass, the seasons and all things having to do with life.

Dualism seems to be the key. The element earth creates minerals, which are metal and destroys water. Metal through condensation creates water but can cut wood. Water nurtures trees thus create wood but can put out fire. Wood gives fuel to fire but as the tree pushes up through the earth seems to destroy it as well. Fire melts metal but creates the earth.

The Ba-gua is an octagonal chart that is used to change the energies of areas in a person life. Gua means sphere or area of activity. Marriage, family, health, luck and career are considered to be guas and inhabit different areas of your space. Each space has its own color. Color is used to enhance each area to make the energy strong to enhance health, wealth and other aspects of living.

The basic elements of Feng Shui have been used for a very long time by successful corporations and have been used by the Chinese people for centuries. It could be possible that these principles could improve anyone’s health, wealth and happiness. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.

One of the most popular new techniques for designing a bedroom is to use Feng Shui principles. There are many reasons that these are such popular new choices when redecorating. Basically it is thought that you can make sure that your soul is well nourished and healthy by focusing on the energy that is around you.

Feng Shui is a must for anyone who wants to feel more relaxed when they are in their bedroom. Since the bedroom is the one space in your home that is completely personal and intimate you can see a lot more happiness with new energy being in this space. The bedroom can also feel more relaxed and intimate by using these tips.

Your bedroom will be more relaxed and sensual if you apply Feng Shui techniques. One of the best things to do to make yourself fall asleep is to make sure that your bedroom space has things placed in the right way. This will give improvements in your soul, body, and mind.

The placement of your bed is important in the practice of Feng Shui as is making sure that it faces the right direction. One tip is to avoid putting your bed right in front of your doorway. You should aim to put your bed diagonal to the door and as far away from the door as possible.

When your bed is right in front of your door you open yourself up to an excessive amount of chi which could make you have health issues. By finding the appropriate chi for your life you will find that you are healthy and in harmony with that which is around you. In addition to these tips it is always a great idea to make sure that your bed is placed along a wall which makes you better able to go at life head on.

Also you should try to make your bedroom more simple. You should avoid bringing things like computers into the bedroom too, this is because this could make you feel like life is more complicating. You could have problems with your sleeping patterns because the two energies from work and sleep do not mix well.

Windows need to be located in the right way too. You want the window to be to the right where you will wake up where the energies around you are positive. Having positive energy when you wake up will help to make the entire mood of your day a positive thing. This is a great tip for anyone, young or old alike because it can essentially help you to wake up on the right side of the bed every day.

To have the most positive space possible you will need to use Feng Shui principles. In addition colors are something that is important. There are many things that you need to know about Feng Shui in addition to these but these are known to be the most important.

A properly lit home is necessary for many reasons. It not only makes the home seem alive, but it also brightens up the home. It can emphasize the good points of the room and take attention away from areas you don’t like. But lighting goes beyond that, it can bring a good energy into the home. Here are a few home lighting tips with feng shui that can help you utilize that energy.

It is said that with Feng Shui, lighting helps with the chi energy. Chi energy needs to be balanced and lighting is part of that balance, keeping yin and yang on equal footing. Windows can bring in light to the home but when there are not enough windows or not enough lighting coming through, something else is needed. Lamps can help to activate the energy and promote the chi balance in a home when properly placed.

The placement of lamps and lights plays a major role in the flow of energy. Direction is a big part of Feng Shui, where things are placed activates certain energies and enhances areas of life. When an area of your life needs extra focus and energy, placing a lamp or lighting in a certain area will enhance that energy.

The south represents fame and goals, a light that illuminates a certain goal or object that is a symbol of your goal activates energy in that direction. When wealth needs to be focused on, a vertical rectangular light in the southeast is used; this type of light represents upward growth. If a relationship needs attention, a small lamp with green or pink that is decorative placed in the bedroom or living room from the southwest side is needed.

The north can help with career, especially when a medium light is used with a blue lampshade or if possible a blue light. When travel and helpful people need to be activated, a spotlight or globe lamp in the northwest keeps the energy moving in that direction. A small lamp that spotlights work like a desk lamp is good for knowledge and should be used in the northeast area.

To promote closeness and warmth in a family, the east is where you want the lighting to come from. This should ideally be in a family room, where the most family activity should take place. A fireplace can also be the source of that light and is considered a great feng shui solution as a fireplace promotes warmth and energy.

When focus is needed on creativity and children, lighting in the west should be used. Unique lights in a family room or in a child’s bedroom will activate the energy needed, be creative with silly lights in those rooms. Medium lighting should be used so as not to over activate the energy or the children.

Everyone can benefit from a little extra light in their life and with the proper lighting and strategically placed lamps, they can have that. Incorporating home lighting tips with feng shui can create the right balance of chi energy to flow throughout the house and life. Just a little extra light in one area of a house is all that is needed at times to activate energy for a better life.

After a hard days work people go to the bedroom to relax and get some rest. It is important to get this rest so your mind and body can recover for the next day. But some people find it difficult to get enough sleep and cannot relax, leaving them tired all day long. There are also an unfortunate few who go whole nights without any sleep. It may be health problems or financial worries that cause this but there is something everyone can try. Feng shui for the bedroom is something a lot of people are finding very useful.

Before you plunge straight into it, it is important to understand what it is. Feng shui is an ancient Chinese art. It’s a way of turning aspects of a room that are thought to be negative into positive ones by rearranging the furniture and fittings.

Everybody wants to achieve a healthy and peaceful life, and this is very important according to feng shui principals. With every thing positioned correctly you should find this comes very easily.

The only way to get this energy is to place the furniture of your bedroom in the ways this art describes. If it is done badly, the flow is of negative energy. This is what will cause the problems for you in your daily life.

The position of the bed is the third most important thing in the home, coming after the front door and the stove in the kitchen. And the position of your bed is vital. Firstly, the bed must be placed diagonally opposite from the door by which you enter and exit the room. The reasoning behind this is that it symbolizes you having the ability to see clearly what is coming up in your immediate future. If you can see it coming then you can prepare.

The bed should never be situated directly across from this door. This is believed to be the cause of insomnia and also other health problems in life. It is also advised that the bed should not be in line with this door. This is thought to cause irritability and stress, leading to sleepless nights.

If you have doors leading to a balcony, a terrace or any door that leads to the outside then you must follow the same rules for these doors too. This can really limit the places in your room where a bed can work, but to benefit from these principals you have to abide by them exactly.

Having a bed under a window is the second thing that you have to avoid. By having the bed there, you can suffer from poor health and the finances of the occupants can suffer also. The next thing is never have a mirror next to your bed, hanging over it or in any sort of contact with it. The position of the mirror is believed to affect the relationships of the people who sleep there.

Now you know what to avoid, these are the things that are beneficial. Your bed should be hard up to a wall. The wall symbolizes a source of strong and stable energy. And you definitely want a substantial headboard fitted. The headboard represents the support you get from your close friends and family.

It is important that the living room of a home looks good and has a relaxing atmosphere to it. This is because it’s the main focal point of most houses. It is where guests in the house will be taken and where the family will spend a lot of time. There are several ways to make a room feel relaxed and look good but the best is to use some easy feng shui tips.

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese art that has been around for over ten thousand years and has come to be popular all over the world. The principals behind it are that in nature, there is a continual flow of positive and negative energies. And by arranging your furniture and decorating in a specific way, it is possible to enhance the positive and remove the negative.

Positioning the furniture in a sitting room can be difficult as there is usually a lot of it, since this is where most people will be. This also makes it the best room to do this in, as everyone will benefit from the positive energy. This energy will bring good luck with money, a happy life and good health.

First of all, the living room should always be on the ground floor. And preferably, it should not be visible from the main door of the home. The personal rooms such as the living room and bedrooms should be as far away from the main door as possible. But these things are almost impossible to change after a house has been built.

Believe it or not, your wealth can be affected by the layout of your rooms. The area of a sitting room that can change your fortunes is the on the left hand side when you enter the room. If there is a door of any kind there, that symbolizes that you could gradually lose your money. The money can gradually seep away from this point. This negative energy can be countered though. By placing a large plant in this spot and keeping it healthy, you can bring positive energy to this area.

You want the room to flow, so this means that all the furniture should be positioned in a way that does not obstruct the passage to any part of it. Now you should have all the seats facing away from the main door of your house and the room, but also facing away from any windows. You do not want two couches facing one another as this brings stress visitors who are strangers to each other. A good position for two couches is in the shape of the letter l.

The art of arranging accessories and furniture in way that helps to promote prosperous and healthy living is called Feng Shui. The art, which is originally a Chinese practice, has become very popular in other countries in the past fear years as well. To the Western world, Feng Shui is more of a way to decorate. The styles original message and meaning has, for the most part, gotten lost in the translation. Those looking for Feng Shui design tips could improve their home’s aesthetics in just a few easy steps.

First, the home’s room that will be redecorated should be chosen. Feng Shui followers believe that each and every piece of furniture in the home can affect both the energy and flow of the room their in. The absence of any clutter has a similar effect on both your room and mind. So in order to begin, be sure to thoroughly remove all unnecessary clutter and objects from the entire home.

Next, create an energy map of the room. Feng Shui believers use them to determine the room’s energy flow and find the best color to use in the room. The space’s size and layout are some of the factors that affect the energy map. Consult books or websites to find examples of energy maps.

The placement of the house’s items is critical too. Things like wall forks, mirrors, and fish tanks can all enhance the energy if they are arranged nicely in a space. The mirrors have to be hung facing away from sofas and other chairs on a blank wall. It is normal practice for Feng Shui followers that if an accessory isn’t creating fortune and happiness that it is to be moved until it is.

For Feng Shui, color plays an important role in the art as well. According to the beliefs, color is an expression of Feng Shui’s five elements. A color guide to Feng Shui can help you choose the best one to use in the room, based on the type of energy you want to promote. A color guide can be found at most Feng Shui sites and in most books featuring the subject.

For example, to bring out a space’s passion and energy, paint the walls purple, orange, or red. To emphasize harmony and stability, go with beige and other Earth tones. As far as hues are concerned, brighter colors are considered better. Utilizing the color guide you’ll be able to successfully improve any room in the home.

Other elements can be included into Feng Shui as well. Metal is an element that brings clarity and sharpness and is most efficient when placed in the Northern area of the home. Wood promotes healing, vitality, and prosperity. To bring freshness and abundance in good fortune, install water fixtures or water colors. Fishtanks and water fountains will well too.

Even though there are lots of people who disagree with the art’s lack of definitive results, Feng Shui does have a lot of American fans. The act, in the West at least, is generally considered to just be an alternative home decorating method instead of a way to promote healthy and spiritual minds.

Your living room is probably the most important room in your house.

Your living room is probably the most important room in your house. It’s supposed to be the one place in the house where you and your family and friends get together and share good times. It’s therefore very important that you give some attention to living room Feng Shui.

The living room can have a positive effect on every other room in the house as far is Feng Shui is concerned. Planning your lounge in harmony with the nine divisions of the lo shu square (or bagua) will therefore result in a positive energy flow to all other sections of your home. If there’s a room in the house that is not balanced in Yin-Yang terms, the negative energy of this can be canceled out by a well-balanced lounge.

Think in this regard of the Yin-Yang symbol located right at the heart of the bagua, which is referred to as the tai chi. When you should apply the principles of bagua to a big area, such as for example your whole house, we refer to that as the large tai chi. On the other hand, if you apply the same tai chi principles to something that forms part of that whole, for example a particular room such as your lounge, we then call it the small tai chi. The tai chi can not only be applied to a room though – you can even apply it to a particular item of furniture, for example a sofa.

Take into account, however, that there are many rules in Feng Shui that should be observed. You can’t arbitrarily apply all Feng Shui principles to a specific room without taking into account these rules. One such rule for example says that an open flame in the north-western part of your home is extremely dangerous. If your lounge is therefore in this part of the house, you should never have an open fire-place or use candles in this room.

The way furniture is arranged in your living room is very important. The living room is supposed to be a place of relaxation where family and friends spend happy times. The way you arrange the lounge furniture should therefore always take this into account. An L-shaped lounge suite, for example, is therefore never a good idea. The reason this is bad is because people will not be facing each other, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere and a feeling of distance between them.

According to the rules of Feng Shui, it’s important to avoid conflict and create a feeling of calmness in the lounge. To achieve this, it is recommended that you introduce the colors red and gold. This could take the form of a red and gold colored drape, or even flowers with these colors.

You want your lounge to have an ambiance of happiness and prosperity. One way of achieving this in terms of Feng Shui is to hang the correct pictures on particular walls of the room. The eastern wall, for example, relates to family life and health matters. Here you should thus hang pictures of family members having good times and who are therefore smiling. The northern wall has to do with career success, so a nice photo of you or one of your children at a degree ceremony is appropriate.

You have no doubt heart of Yin and Yang, the negative and positive forces of life according to Feng Shui. When planning your living room Feng Shui, you want as much positive energy or Yang as possible. This can be achieved with a bright chandelier, or by painting one of the walls a bright red, to name just two examples.

You have probably heard about the power of positive thinking and how it can change your life. However, did you also know that power comes from a life force energy that encircles all living things? The ancient Chinese knew about this life force and found that it could be guided though plants. Thus, the beginning of the beliefs about Feng Shui plants.

The home environment is very important to your state of mind and how you perceive the things that happen to you. One of the objects in a house that can help to change the things that happen to you and how you look at them is plants. Placing plants in certain areas can be bring you both good and bad luck both in your house and in your place of employment.

Many married couples may wonder what they could do to increase the chances of fertility. Ancient Chinese people believed that the placement of flowers in a bedroom actually decreased the chances of a woman becoming pregnancy. It is better, they believed, to have a fruit basket placed in bedroom. Fruits symbolize fertility, especially the pomegranate fruit.

The whole point of placing plants in certain places in a home is to promote positive energy. One way to help this along is to make sure you keep plants trimmed. Overgrown and disheveled plants bring bad energy. This is also true of the shrubs and trees in an area surrounding your home. Always make sure to stay on top of trimming for this important reason. Never have thorny pants inside your home because of bad luck. Thorny plants, however, do provide a form of of protection when placed outside the home. Make sure to place them a decent distance from the door way for this protection to come about.

If you have some sort of thorny plant in your home, you should be sure to take it outside. Feng Shui beliefs include keeping these types of plants out of the home because they will bring about bad luck. Also, thorny plants are meant to be a form of protection and should be a little distance from the entry way into your home for this reason.

You should also remember to never bring dried flowers into the home. According to these ancient beliefs, dried flowers will bring you bad luck and misfortune. However, artificial flowers are believed to bring about good luck. Artificial flowers keep their beauty longer anyway.

While plants in the bath may be an attractive addition to your decor, you might be interested to know that these beliefs state that any plant or Feng Shui symbol that is supposed to bring good luck will bring the opposite if placed in a bathroom.

You may be surprised to know that any plant or Feng Shui symbol that is meant to bring good luck should never be put in the bath area. The reason for this according to Chines ancient beliefs is that this will cause a reverse in the luck. Positive energy is what causes you to be able to have positive thinking. This is the life force energy that can literally change the course of events in your life when it comes to bad and good things happening. Following the beliefs that surround Feng Shui plants is one way to focus that good energy in your home and in your life.
