In order to feel at peace in a room.. you must make it yours and yours alone... the things you love.. the way you love seeing them arranged.. are more important than what others "think" or "feel" you should do. After I tried to DIY fengshui using Lilian Too's magazine and upset the energy of my place (I broke out in hives on one side of my face, plus other mishaps) I engaged the services of a traditionally trained husband and wife team. It's a meticulous process combining many different schools of fengshui (there are over 20 by my masters' count), tailor made to fit the individual according to their birth details, including birthtime and place. There is NO one-size-fits-all fengshui. How a room 'should' be furnished would depend on which element sector (earth, wood, fire, earth, metal, water) it lies in in the house AND the dominant element of the person staying in it. The person's element may happen to clash with the element of the room. Though this can be adjusted or 'cured' to a certain extent using object placements and such. If you do not wish to engage a fengshui master and you normally rely on 'instinct' to decorate I would say go with it. Instead of listening to too many conflicting suggestions from people who do not know you as you do yourself. Eg. I had no idea of fengshui when I decided on the spot to buy my place - I just felt at home in it - and it turned out I picked a place that matched my energy according to chart calculations.<br><b>References : </b><br>Personal experience as a home owner.
